SV Values – Guidance

Jun 30, 2022

One of the main pillars of the SILVER VIXENS online community is Guidance. As new members are entering the FB group are looking for tips and tricks on how to manage their transition from dyed hair to their natural glorious Silver with the least possible pain. They are after free information, and that is fair enough, Facebook is “free” afterall.

To be of value Guidance needs to be truthful, relevant and in the case of SILVER VIXENS – supportive.

SILVER VIXENS have set themselves a task that on the surface may seem simple, if long winded – just grow your hair out without dying it – Easy Peasy! Or head to the hair dresser for a very loooonnnnggg appointment to chemically go from dyed, burnt, brassed hair to Sleek Shining Silver in one go.

The quick fix transition may look like an easy, if super expensive, solution. But in the long run it is just another round of dying your hair. You will still have regrowth after your Silver Soaking, it wont be a perfect match to your own Silver and you have just taken another route to your ultimate goal.

Growing your Silver out is to some degree awkward for everyone who attempts it, only because of how confronting many folks around you will find it. SILVER VIXENS in many ways is a social experiment, as our movement flies in the face of societal standards that tell us we are only beautiful when we are young and the beauty industry’s ideas, icons and products aimed at keeping up the facade.

SILVER VIXENS look for guidance as to how to navigate the new pathway they want to carve for themselves, while the tidal wave of objection overt and subtle does everything to turn them around and get them back to moving with the crowd.

So we are back to the desire and need for Guidance.

Once you are in the FB group you would have become aware immediately of the generosity of our SILVER VIXENS in sharing their photos, their journeys, the products that have worked for them and their own hacks for making the transition.

This support is freely given with a desire to be helpful and give owther the opportunity to learn without having to make all of the mistakes that everyone else has made.

The desire of those who offer support is to encourage and fundamentally aid in their Silver Sisters maintaining their conviction to get to the goal, the prize, of NO MORE DYE.

But more than that it is to fill your tank with positivity and belief in that dreamy idea you have in your head of carefree but beautiful hair, to see that you accomplish your goal, get from A to Z, and actually finish.

SILVER VIXENS are all about being supportive. Members experience this as shouts outs, celebrating and giving you a boost when you muster up the courage to post your pic. Guidance is about the “How To”, the technical, the suggestions and the recommendations.

But there is more to it that just helping others figure out the next best step or what products might work for them.

Guidance is wisdom, truth and lighting up the best path = not necessarily the easiest path, or the brightest way, but the best path to get to your destination.

Hair and by extension how we look is a big deal. Some folks put zero effort into curating how they look, possibly considering that to do so would be vain or self-centred. While others appear to be obsessed with managing their appearance, and they can be the object of envy and derision as its assummed they are vain and self-centred. It’s all about them.

And this is where the ideas around Guidance, help being offered and what is considered helpful starts to be get intersting.
